	Introduction
	The Department of Physiology was started in August 2008. It is located in the Basic Science Block in the -1 and -2 floors.
	Infrastructure
	The department of Physiology houses the following labs as per MCI guidelines: Hematology laboratory with capacity of 35 students Human Laboratory--- capacity 25 Clinical Laboratory ---- capacity 25 Amphibian laboratory--- capacity 25 Mammalian laboratory Research laboratory These Laboratories are equipped with instruments required for undergraduate teaching.
	Academic and Trainings
	The Department currently renders teaching facility for the undergraduate MBBS curriculum. At present there are three functioning laboratories to aid undergraduate teaching. Classes (Modalities involved- lecture, discussion, Journal Club, Case presentation etc.) are conducted regularly involving Residents, and Technical/Non- Technical staffs. Classes on various topics (as selected after discussion with College of Nursing Authority, NEIGRIHMS) are taken for B.Sc Nursing Students throughout the academic session.
	Projects
	Baroreflex sensitivity in etiology of essential hypertension and lifestyle disorders in Meghalaya Role of Integrated Yoga in Diabetes Mellitus
	CME, Lectures held: A CME-cum-Seminar on ‘Clinical Relevance of Autonomic Function Testings’ was held on 13th June 2014, with the help of NEC and administration of NEIGRIHMS. The CME was attended by delegates from hospitals in Shillong, and neighboring states and NEIGRIHMS. The keynote address delivered by Dr. K.K Deepak.
	Vision and future plans of the Department
	Establishment of: Autonomic function lab. Neurophysiology lab Yoga and meditation lab Sport physiology and Exercise laboratory Autonomic functions and HRV analysis laboratory Sports physiology and cardiorespiratory physiology lab.
