B.Sc. Nursing Course affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU- A Central University) was started; thus becoming the first institute in the State of Meghalaya to start a Professional/Graduate Technical Course. |
2007

NEIGRIHMS was declared as a "Centre of Excellence" by the Parliament. NEIGRIHMS is the only medical institute in the country to have this honour. |
2008

Started MBBS Course affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU - A central University) after obtaining permission for the Course under Clause 10 (A) of IMC Act, 1956 conveyed vide Ministry's letter No. U.12012/92/2007-NE dated 25th March 2008; thus becoming the first Institute in the State of Meghalaya to start MBBS Course. The 8th Governing Council accorded approval for starting of MBBS Course. The Ministry vide order No.U.12012/92/2008-NEdated 16th June 2008 sent a three member inspection team headed by Prof. Sambasiva Rao, Add. Director General, DGHS. As per the recommendations of the Committee that was conveyed by the Ministry vide letter No-U.12012/92/2007-NE dated 15th July 2008, MBBS course started in NEIGRIHMS from Session 2008-2009 with annual intake of 50 admissions |
2009

MD & MS Course started in 4 disciplines affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) (A central University). The approval to start the Post Graduate course in NEIGRIHMS was conveyed by the Ministry vide Office Memorandum No-U-12012/7/2008-NE dated 19th May 2008. After inspection under the Chairmanship of Dr. A.K Agarwal, Add. Director General, DGHS, the Ministry vide letter No.U-12012/7/2008-NE (Pt) dated 19th March 2009 permitted to start Post Graduate Courses with two seats each in 4 (four) departments namely Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology |

Smti. Sonia Gandhi, Hon'ble Chairperson of UPA dedicated the Institute to the Nation in the august presence of the Hon'ble Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare after its permanent campus was commissioned |

2012

- The first batch of Post Graduate students (MD in Anaesthesiology, Pathology, Microbiology and MS in Obstetrics & Gynaecology) passed the final University Examination.
- During the practical examination MCI inspection was conducted and the seats were declared as recognised by MCI

The Institute adopts its Official Logo after obtaining approval from the Governing Council. |

The coveted Super-Speciality (DM Cardiology course) affiliated to North Eastern Hill University (A central University) was started August 2012 |

- New Faculty Order established with the implementation of Assessment Merit Promotion Scheme (APS) at par with AIIMS, New Delhi and PGIMER, Chandigarh
