DEPARTMENT OF RADIOTHERAPY AND ONCOLOGY

Introduction
The department of radiotherapy & oncology started functioning in Aug 2004 from the Interim Facility Hospital and subsequently from the main campus since July 2006.
Patient Services
- OPD Service: The out patient department functions six days in a week (mon-sat except on holidays) from 9am-1pm on the second floor of the hospital building.
- In- patient service: The department provides round the clock service to 12 in- patient beds.
- Emergency Service: The department also provides 24hour service for the cancer patients coming to the emergency of the hospital after OPD timing.
- Acting as a referral center for various cancer patients for the state of Meghalaya as well as other states of North East India.
Academic Activities and Training
The department undertakes Residency, Undergraduate and B.Sc. Nursing Teaching Programme.
- Conducting training programs at medical and para-medical staff.
- Conducting cancer awareness camps, research and other studies related to cancer as well as other health related topics.
The department organizes various CMEs and Guest Lectures from time to time as a part of the teaching activities.

Vision of the Department
To establish a Tertiary Care level Regional Cancer Center, which shall provide comprehensive cancer treatment modalities like Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology & Surgical Oncology to the cancer patients.
